The place cards were paper doilies that I printed each guest's name on.
The
diaper cake was a Scooter. Mommy-to-Be used to have one back in
Missouri and it's an ongoing joke in our little group, so I had to make a
scooter cake! I put Vespa logos on the side too so that she knew what
it was.
I purchased a photo album and had the guests write tips and wishes for the Parents-to-Be and Baby on a notecard. I put the notecards in the album sort of like a guestbook so that they can keep it or use it as a photo album later.
Another
thing I love-- Tissue paper Pom Poms. You can buy these at Craft
store-- I did that the first time I used them because they were new to
me. Seriously, make these if you can. It is SO easy! Just fold tissue
paper accordian style, put some floral wire in the middle to hold it,
fan it, then "fluff" the layers out. I used fishing wire to hang them
from the ceiling so they looked kind of like they were floating. I used
these over the dessert table and over the Mommy-to-Be's chair for
opening gifts. I may post a DIY Tutorial on these as well... They're
are so easy and it is SO much cheaper to make them than to buy them.
Tiny Toes...Tiny Socks! I made labels to put on a jar and filled the jar with baby socks in the color scheme of the shower. The guest that guessed how many socks in the jar won a prize. I did little travel sized hand & body lotions in the colors of the shower.
Favors! In my opinion, favors are a must have. They thank the guest for coming and give them something to take home to remind them of the special day. I love a jordan almond, but keep them in your snack cabinet unless you can think of something really creative.
I got nail polish in two different shades of light blue and made tags that said "It's a Boy!" on one side, and "Thank you!" on the other. They had the elephant from the theme and I tied a light green ribbon to attach the tags to the bottles.
There was a champagne bar with two different juices: Pomegranate Blueberry and Orange Peach so that the ladies could choose what flavor they wanted. What I love about this is that it's interactive and a simple, delicious drink. You don't want to be mixing crazy complicated drinks while hostessing a party. Keep it simple!
