Who is Sugar Love?

I'm a Wife and Mommy in New Hampshire and have always had a passion for food, baking, and entertaining. I'll post some of my recipes here along with pictures of some of the things I've done for parties and events.

I try to live healthy, but love food...not always a good combination. I try to make recipes for some of my favorite things healthier anywhere I can. Some recipes are just meant to be delicious, but I make most of my recipes with less fat if it doesn't compromise too much flavor.

Baby Shower Lunch Menu

The food is such an important part of a party.  The type of food and the way it's presented sets some of the tone for the party.  For this baby shower, we had a smaller group so I wanted to do a Ladies Lunch at a soft, pretty table and food that was delicious, light, and simple.

A lot of times, I serve hot appetizers at parties.  This requires heating everything at the last minute, which can be hard to do.  My husband is usually there to help me entertain while I'm finishing up the food.  For this, it was ladies only, so I needed food options that I could make ahead and serve cold so that there was no last minute cooking as guests arrived.

The shower was at the beginning of June, so cold foods were perfect for the season!

Here's what we had:

Ham & Turkey Sandwiches
(I made half of the sandwiches on a good wheat bread, and half on a good white bread from the local bakery so that there were options for everyone)

For Dessert:

Lemon Cupcakes, Vanilla Cupcakes

Chubby Hubby Truffles (Mommy to Be loves Chubby Hubby Ice Cream!)

To Drink:
Drinks should be fun, delicious, and easy.
I did a champagne bar with Prosecco and two juices that guests could choose from to mix with it-- Blueberry Pomegranate or Orange Peach.

There's no recipe for this one-- For the Blueberry Pomegranate, I just bought the Trop50 juice at the grocery store.  For the Orange Peach, I used half Orange Juice and half Peach Nectar (Goya or whatever brand you have, it's in the juice aisle).

I put the juices in clear glass containers because it looked prettier than the juice bottles they came in.
You could also do Sparkling white grape juice instead of Prosecco for any non-drinkers, it just may be too sweet to mix with the juice.
